Web 2.0 Development Services

2010 June 15
by admin

Web development refers to the building, maintaining and running of a website on the Internet, and includes both front-end (Graphical User Interface) as well as back-end (coding and scripting) development.

As the Internet is becoming more and more of a communication and business medium, web-development as a business branch is seeing unprecedented growth, and developers with knowledge of Java, PHP, Drupal and other web-development related languages are much in demand. New trends in web development include shifting towards Web 2.0 – a more interactive medium than takes information sharing and interoperability on the web to altogether new levels.

Web developers can be a one-man team, a firm of developers, or a developing giant employing hundreds of developers. Irrespective of size, what matters is that the developer understands your need, and is committed to realizing them. Whether it is a website for a specific cause, a social networking website like Facebook, or a business site for e-commerce purposes, all require strong, reputed developers to transform creative ideas into technical, internet-enabled possibilities.

Another example of web development is not development of individual sites, but rather site components. For example, Facebook, a popular social networking site, encourages users to create and upload their own applications on to the website. Each up-loader here, is in effect, a web developer in his own right as he developed a component of the page (in this case, the application), and wrapped it around in the proper code required for it to function perfectly on the website.

In this context, it is often economically sounder to outsource web development services rather than building expensive in-house teams for the same. Outsourcing to developers who have a strong sense of their work can produce miraculous results. As with any other development service, it is important that the developer has a strong knowledge over the field he is claiming expertise in, and has a long and proven track-record of the same.

Testimonials from previous clients, unclassified past project details, diversity of expertise, technical ability, ability at solution development, and strict adherence to deadlines are some of the important areas you must fully research before assigning a project.

On-page Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

2010 June 15
by admin

A good search engine optimization can be roughly divided in two: on-page and off-page optimization. As its name says, the first optimization takes place inside a page and consists of a reorganization of the content displayed in it. On the other hand, the off-page optimization takes place in other pages and consists in gaining incoming links pointing to the optimized page.
The task is very easy to understand: what you need is to get other websites to set up links pointing to yours. This may or may not involve a negotiation between you and the webmaster of the page you’re trying to get the link from, but in any case, you should follow these guidelines to get the best from every link:

  • Always try to use your keywords in the anchor text of the link, as search engines use anchor text as a description of the content of the destination page. You may not always achieve this because you can’t control the content in other people’s websites, but try it whenever possible. Pay attention to other links on the page (if any); if other links display keywords as anchor text it’s very likely that the webmaster will accept yours.
  • Note that the importance given to the words in your anchor text will lower from left to right, so you may want to put your keywords first whenever possible.
  • Whether you should or shouldn’t get links from low PageRank pages is a very discussed topic in SEO. Some experts say that you need to focus your work in the higher PR pages only. In my opinion you shouldn’t take PageRank that seriously, because it doesn’t have such a close realtionship with search results. Google is very far from giving you information you can use to intentionally affect their search results and even less, to buy, sell or exchange links.

Once you got the idea of how you can get the best of a link, you need to know where and how you can make other websites link to you. Next, I’ll give some hints of where you can start your link building.
Articles
Write an article about a topic related to the niche your website belongs. Use your knowledge or experience to come up with something others may read, enjoy and find to be very useful.
This will rise your image among your visitors and will also allow you to submit your article to article directory websites like EzineArticles.com, GoArticles.com and iSnare.com. In most of them a link can be added to your website at the end.
Press releases
Write a press release about the opening of your business, something new you’ve discovered in your industry or some data you can add about experiences in your field (e.g. some data about buyers in the after recession summer season).
Publish your work in press release websites like PRweb.com or Free-press-release.com, where you can get a link at the bottom of the press release. Remember that by definition, a press release must have news value.
RSS and Atom syndication
Syndicate your content using RSS or Atom feeds. Feeds are “what’s new” lists that will allow your visitors and other websites to see and/or display the latest news you have to offer. Submit this content to feed directories like FeedAgg.com or Plazoo.com, where you will have a link to every news in the feed.
Remember, that for feeds to work, you need to keep your content fresh. Nobody wants to see a “what’s new” list that never changes.
Web directories
Submit your website to web directories like Dmoz.com or Yahoo! Direcotry, that may or may not charge you for the review service. In any case, you should have a quality website that offers good and useful content to increase the chances of getting accepted in the directory. Writing good descriptions and following the guidelines will also increase the probability of getting accepted.
Social bookmarking
Create accounts in social bookmarking websites like Digg.com or Del.icio.us and bookmark your website. Tell your friends to bookmark your website too. The more people bookmark your website, the more visibility it will have.
Create a page for your website on Facebook or Twitter. Tell your friends to become fans and spread the word. This may provide you with a lot of popularity as Facebook is the second most visited website in the internet.
Place bookmark buttons on your website so your visitors can bookmark it with just one click to their favorite social network.
Forums and blogs
Sign up in forums related to your content and start talking. Most forums allow users to add links in their signatures. Recommend your resources in answers posted at Google Groups, Yahoo! Answers or any related article in blogs.
Having your own blog or forum may be something that you will need to maintain daily, but it’s a natural way to gain links from people that may find the answers useful. Besides the maintenance and control, all the content in a forum depends on its users (it’s free content).
Whatever you do, use these techniques wise and respectfuly. Don’t spam e-mails, forums or blogs with your links. Always avoid promotinal language and meaningless answers. And never forget that a link that that is accepted for good reasons will last longer.

Top Mistakes Moms Work From House Need To Steer Clear Of To Succeed

2010 June 15
by admin

With the economy continuing to struggle, more and more moms work from house today. There are some tremendous opportunities to choose from and a lot of money to be made. However, there are a number of mistakes that can easily send you into the 95% of entrepreneurs who end up making little to nothing online.

The number one mistake you can make is not researching enough. The internet is constantly evolving and fluctuating making it imperative you take the time to stay up to date with your niche. Whether it is reading forums, signing up for newsletters, or even purchasing e-books and information products, detailed research can do wonders for your business.

Looking at a top rated business directory can help fill you in on what is going on around your niche as well. This can help you understand how to better approach your marketing, how to reach your target market, and how to stand out from the rest of the competition.

The next mistake moms work from house need to avoid is not networking. Just because you have a business online with a web site does not mean you can get away with hiding behind the computer and business name. The internet is far more interactive than ever before thanks to social sites like Twitter, Facebook and MySpace. Therefore, it is up to you to get out and gain some exposure.

No one will know you exist unless you let them know. This entails getting into forums and socializing, meeting new people on Facebook, and posting comments daily with a Twitter account. The more people see your name the more familiar they will become with you and your business. Perhaps the most important thing to keep in mind is to be yourself and let people see the real you.

From there, a lot of people make simple mistakes personally that can effect their business. Two simple adjustments can drastically improve your business and help you get into a top rated business directory. First, make sure to create a schedule to work off of. The reason for this is because there is far too much freedom and distractions to deal with that can lead to you procrastinating with work if you do not have a set schedule.

The second thing to focus on personally is goals. Setting goals to strive for can help to keep you motivated and focused on what you would like to accomplish. Just make sure your goals are reasonable and challenging at the same time.

More and more moms work from house today and the opportunities are there to succeed from. Just keep in mind the tips listed in this article to steer clear of failing online.

Mobile Phone And iPhone Repairs

2010 June 15
by admin

In today’s world a mobile phone is pretty much an essential piece of kit. Just as you wouldn’t have survived the Middle Ages without a trusty sword at your side, you wouldn’t do too well in the digital age without a mobile phone. Most of us are aware of this attachment and find ourselves becoming fidgety the minute we can’t find our phone – has someone tried to contact us? Do we look rude for not answering? What if we’re going to be late? How will we know what’s going on at work? Contact our other half? With iPhones and Blackberries this is exacerbated as we find ourselves without a permanent internet connection and object push (the ability to be alerted when a new e-mail comes through). iPhones even give us GPS meaning that we’ve become dependent on them to find our way around cities and find restaurants or pubs in the area… Simply put they are crucial. For this reason we need to have arrangements in place for if we damage them, so that it won’t be as much of a shock to the system. So what do you do if your phone gets damaged? Well first of all you should try and remove the SIM card. For those not in the know, the SIM card is actually what contains your phone number and mobile account – and it’s not specific to your phone. What this means is that hopefully you’ll be able to use the SIM card on another person’s phone and that means you won’t have to beg for other people’s minutes. If you have an old phone in a drawer somewhere at home then you can use that while your main phone is damaged.

This then means you won’t be completely phone-less (a sad state of affairs) for that time. Some SIM cards will retain your contacts, but unfortunately others will not be so lucky now that most phones come with reserves of internal storage and SD cards. As such you may find yourself with a phone and no contacts rendering it essentially useless if you need to get hold of someone quickly. The most obvious way to solve this problem then is to write all of your contacts down somewhere else – and better yet on something that you can keep about your person. This way you can refer to your list and type the number in the old fashioned way. However if you haven’t done this then retrospect won’t get you far when your communications device does conk out on you. A way to deal with the situation once it’s occurred then is to use your other communication resources. This means Facebook, e-mail, twitter and whatever else. If you can get to a cyber cafe then you might be able to find an e-mail address on the profile of the person you want to contact. Otherwise you can message them or e-mail them. If you can’t get to a cyber cafe, then you can use a payphone to contact someone who does have access to the internet and whose number you know. Once you’re back you will want to recollect your friends’ numbers.

Again this can be done by creating a Facebook group and inviting all your friends to it, or sending a round robin e-mail to everyone asking them to get in touch with their number. Finally you should ensure that your phone is repaired as quickly, cheaply and professionally as possible by a trustworthy company so that you can go about repairing your life as soon as possible…
